I agree that wikis can be both static and dynamic depending on how they are used. I have been using wikis since 2006 and have been really impressed with their educational applications.
I hadn't thought of using social networking sites as a form of dynamic communication. Now that I see it on your map, I remember a teacher that made a Facebook fan page to communicate with parents and students. This page allowed students to dialogue with the teacher and view assignments and reminders. It was great that parents could become a fan of the teacher's page as well. Good idea! What a great use of a technology many people already use!
